EGR FAILURES/LINKS

hi
been thinking[not too much Laughing ]i have been reading alot about egr failures recently on the forum and how to spot them.Q does the failure happen on just standard d3's or d3's that have been chipped or does being chipped not make a difference to the egr usage/failure?
just wondering

How did you work that out then ???

3 Failed all standard, one not failed - chipped. I think you would find that your sample size is statistically not significant etc etc etc

The EGRs just get stuck with sooty crap - they arenü´t put under any more strain as a result of the engine being chipped so being chipped shouldn´t be a factor.

Not an issue Dunc; It's good to wonder Thumbs Up Especially as I believe that the chipped ECUs open the EGRs much less...open less=less soot=longer lasting perhaps???

Oh and even better to blank them off and rip out the strangulation butterfly valve too - massively reduces the "roundabout hesitation" that the TDV6 is prone to (even with properly working EGR and butterfly valves). On a pre-EuroIV emissions engine you can then relax in the knowledge that you just don´t care what happens to the EGR valves as they can´t cause any problems Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
 Cheers

Can this really reduce the hesitation when pulling away?
