Removal of a rear PDC sensor - how? |
|
Had a bit of a wrestle with the rear bumper and PDC sensor that I believe to be faulty - want to swap it out.
But I can't budge the sensor.
How is it removed?
Tried twisting, unscrewing pushing, pulling and nothing works.
Not much space behind there and hoping I don't need to remove the bumper.
Any help appreciated.

Instructions say bumper has to be removed ...never took one out myself ...
There are 2 clips that have to be pulled outwards , that release's the sensor .
Then there are 3 clips that need to be pushed inwards that remove the bezel that holds it in the bumper G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

If it's one of the corner ones you can probably get your hand in there and prise open the clips that will allow the sensor to be pushed back, then you should be able to pull the holder forward. Get under there with a torch and see if it's possible, if not it's a bumper off job (which only takes about 10 mins) The End

Wot Wiggs said
You don't mention which sensor it is. I think you can get the outer sensors off without removing the rear bumper cover.
If it's the inside sensors, then I think the bumper cover has to come off.
Just to clarify - the clips must to pushed as Wiggs said - the sensor itself must be pushed into the bumper to remove it and the bezel must be pulled out of the bumper. 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue

Erm... any chance someone might have a replacement bumper for sale?
Kind of damaged mine along with the bezel / holder for the sensor.
It is indeed a corner one (right, drivers / offside) that I am removing. Despite no longer having any bezel left the damn thing remains stuck fast and I now have another hole in my bumper for my troubles.
Worse - I don't yest know that replacing the sensor will fix the original problem.
If anyone has a diagram to tell me how the bumper comes off I'd be grateful. If not, where is it fixed on?

You can get the middle ones without taking the bumper off. Undo the screws at the bottom and pull the skin outwards.
The sensors are in a holder, you need to push the clips in and push the surround out the sensor then pushes inwards. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

I am sure there is no clip holding mine in place.
I wonder if someone might show me where I'm going wrong at Tong.

The bezel has 2 clips each side. Pull these open and the sensor pulls out of it (from underneath, towards the front of the car). The bezel then has 3 clips that hold it in place. Corner ones can be done in situ, holding the exhaust pipes to one side. Disco 5 HSE Lux
