High-lift jack points

OK, I get to ask all the stupid questions. Embarassed

Do I need the aftermarket front bullbars etc. to be able to utilise high-lift jacks? Or can I get specific points welded onto the chassis along the sides of the vehicle. Now that I have figured out how a high-lift jack works, I need it (well I justify it like that Whistle ) as it would have saved me the embarrassment of being rescued by a T Censored A in Damaraland.

I couldn't really see where you could have decent jacking points , short of adding bullbars , rock sliders etc , so I went for an air jack instead .

Do you need the hilift jack for changing the tyre or for recovering…
If it is for recovery only you can try the Wheel buddy

Went the air jack route to. Believe big coutry has a plan for high lift jack points.I never liked the high lift jack( bad experiance once) . Find the airjack a lot more user friendly.

Tiaan I looked at the wheel buddy and debated it for a while . My biggest concern is that it looks like the jack might tilt towards the car and damage it . Have you used one in anger yet ?

I came unstuck with the bung. just use the compressor to inflate.

Yup a compressor is less messy and more controlled . Get a good double head one and the bag inflates in about 5 min

I think Baben had a thread somewhere about the air jack. One runs on the exhaust gas only (which I would really like to avoid) and another has a compressor input (which would be preferred).

Then there was something about longevity and robustness of these things? What make is preferred by you guys?

If you wish to use a air compressor there are some neat small ones that have a big weight capacity, they are just like suspension air bags, and are a lot quicker than the exaust type used on a compressor. A lot of mechanics in OZ use them in their workshops, This may be a good alternitive.

I have a front runner one. it has the exhaust and compressor ports. it is quite baulky but it has a massive lift.

OK, this looks good. I was concerned about the height it can generate but Atacama assures that is has the necessary height.
