Door ding
Just a rant .....
I live in Sydney and use the car alot for my work.
Parking in Sydney car parks where the parking spaces are just wide enough for the D3 to fit. Yet, no door dings, no scratches whatsoever.
Yesterday, I drive to the Hunter Valley. Sat on the speed limit ( ) all the way and visited 2 wineries and had lunch at Harrigans Pub.
After leaving Harrigans and stopping at the Hunter Brewery, I walk out and see a lovely white mark on the rear drivers side door and a nice ding as a souvenir.
I was fuming ... the ding is halfway between the window sill and the (supposed) door protectors.
I can't believe SOME people don't think when they open the door.
Left a bad taste after a good day out.
And on the way home, suspension fault ... just to top off the day ... (still haven't had the latest compressor installed ARGH)
I've had the D3 less than a year now with a good ding in it. My previous DII's (MY00.5 and MY03) not a mark and I travelled alot more with them.
well, just had to get it off my chest ... sorry if i've wasted your time reading this...
time to call Mr Dent Removal .....2009 Discovery 4 3.0 TDV6 HSE
There are a lot of people out there that just don't care about other people's pride and joys. I've had similar experiences like most and it is just infuriating.
Hopefully the dent master (or similar) can work their magic and ease the dent out. Real craftsman I reckon.
So far no dings on my panels. Plenty of scratches though which are self induced.
Good luck.

This is infuriating - when I had my Disco 2 a couple of years ago, brand spanking new, went to Marks 'nd Sparks in Brooklands - parked in the middle of nowhere, went shopping. Came back an hour later nothing parked near to me - satisfied that my baby was safe....... Phew !!!
Unbeknown to me though - on the blind side of the motor some big anal passage had pushed a shopping trolley at full tilt into the passenger door.

Sorry to hear about the damage to your car
There will always be some idiot out there who will do the wrong thing either deliberately or without caring or common sense! All you can do is try to protect yourself from their actions.
It may be time for you to think about adding the Land Rover 'idiot dent proofing kit' The kit comprises of the 'supermarket trolley and low door opening stopper' (side steps) and the 'high door opening dent protector strip' (body side mouldings).
The 'side step trolley stopper' is rated to stop most supermarket trolleys at speeds of up to 60kmph The 'body side mouldings' can cope with teenage children bursting free from another 4WD vehicle at close range

husky,
i recently had the body door side mouldings added to the car in early January (not in my gallery pics)
the ding hit between the window sill and the mouldings ... can you believe that !
oh well ... i guess it was gonna be sooner or later ...
i'd be more annoyed if it was a supermarket trolley - got no side steps ...
would anyone have side steps when they have air suspension ???
i guess for protection yes but for getting in and out you can always lower the car if need be....2009 Discovery 4 3.0 TDV6 HSE

yes!
I bought the side steps on my HSE for just that reason - protection. In car parks (particularly supermarkets) I lift to offroad height and park between two regular cars. Their doors will easily hit the sidestep before the door.

Apart from the good old shopping trolley I thought another good reason would be to wash the roof of the vehicle and for others with roof rails to gain easy access to things on the roof.
Since the car does not arrive till May I will have to wait and see.
I guess 'Nickhearne' proved that old theory about it could always be worse BUT I must admit I would have felt and posted the same way you did
