No more gas!!!
I went completely out of gas last week on the motorway. Do you think this could have caused any damage to the engine or the catalyser?
Thanks for your feedbackDiscovery TDV6 HSE 01/2005

Yes I had to walk to the next gas station and get 5L (approx. 1 gallon). The engine started immediately but I had no engine power for approx. 1km. Everything went back to normal after that. No engine noise or any other problem. I still have some engine jolts (not sure this is the right word) when I decelerate but this was already the case before.Discovery TDV6 HSE 01/2005

Assuming your car is diesel, it is self priming and would perform slowly to ensure the system is full before allowing faster speeds.

Victor,
I was told by a LR mechanic that the D3 will not run out of gas as such.
He said that when the fuel gets very low the engine will only run on three cylinders and then if it isn't filled up it will actually cut out before it runs out so that the car can be refilled without needing the air purging out of it.
So to cut a long story short, you would not have done any damage to your D3.
Its a very cleaver car the D3
Cheers
