Identify the part
Just gone outside to fiddle around with the new toy and noticed a patch of fluid on the drive. It does not seem to be engine oil as it is clear as opposed to the dark stuff on the dip stick.
Having taken a closer look it apears to be coming from a unit on the underside of the vehicle near the offside front wheel. I have taken a photo.
Any offers as to what I am looking at? Does it have anything to do with my Aircon I have discussed in my other post?
btw - how do i show the picture in a post as opposed to putting a link in??
Not sure what the part is but the fluid is probably condensation off the aircon - does it have any smell or viscosity to it? It should be plain water if from the a/c.LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

Yes the liquid is viscous - don't want to send people off on the wrong track by talking about air con I was just relating to the only fault i have found so far and I don't recognise this part ?!?
That's a fuel cooler - 2 coolant pipes and 2 fuel pipes. Sounds like you're getting coolant leaking from it? If it was diesel I'm sure you'd recognise the odour.

Having e-mailed a photo to Caffyns Landrover at Lewes, they have identified it as the fuel cooler - so the fluid is diesel. Now I recognise the smell of the liquid

Took it into Caffyns and they said that the pipes were not attached properly Anyway they kept it for an 1hr 30, removed the old connectors and replaced them, cleaned it of and test drove - they reckon it's ok now although I think it is difficult to tell with residual diesel everywhere.

Out of interest I would have thought that the coolant would always be hotter than the fuel (except on start-up) so how dose this work then ?.

Still seems to be dripping slightly ....
Although i am not convinced its diesel - will keep my eye on the coolant level

Remove the engine cover and check the injectors for leaks. A bit fiddly to see, but have seen a few where the leak off pipes leak down the side of engine onto the cooler

Yes - good point - anyone know where the coolant comes from in order to cool the fuel? any diagrams anywhere?

Ok - a spot on observation. There appears to be a union to the left of the injector then a black plastic connection on the right where the fuel appears to be spraying from in a very fine mist? Any clues what i am looking at? I am now in the middle of France!!

I think you should be looking at getting LRA to sort it out. If I had Diesel fuel spraying in a fine mist around the engine area, that's what I'd be doing.....Bodsys Brake Bible

anyone know the french to describe the fault?
This will involve driving 60km to a landrover dealer who will no doubt scratch their head then tell me they cant fit me in for another week.........
I may try the local friendly garage owner and see if they can do anything.
As i say the mist is very fine and very localised not all over the engine bay - it is not spraying further than about 2 cm. it then pools and drips out of the engine bay onto the floor.
I drove 350 miles with it yesterday and as yet no fire. I would be more concerned if it was petrol
