Park brake fault system not functional |
|
Sunday hand brake was screaming for around 5 mins, switched car off and left it with the handbrake off and in gear, on the way home both the red and yellow lights started to flash on the dash and constant bing bing bing. Monday night stripped rear discs cleaned and lubed rear shoes, dismantled EPB actuator to see if it needed to be wound back, looked fine. Still no response from the handbrake, plugged in the IId tool to test the operation of the handbrake and a row of small gggggggggggggggggggg appeared on the screen.
Only fault code C1A000 unknown fault.
There is no noise or response from the handbrake.
Any thoughts You only get one lap, make it count !!

Does the brake work now, or is it permanently off? so essentially you're unable to apply?
For the code drop Patrick (IID tool) a mail, he was very helpfull with my EPB issues and had some good thoughts around this area.
Mine was jammed off, so could not apply EPB, we had to manually carry out an unjam process before being able to re-latch using a diagnostic tool - all now works well.

Checked my handbrake with the IID tool again Fail E3 with new fault code appeared C1A00-17 AB, cant find anything with the AB. but the code looks like electrical battery/ alternator?
Any thoughts !!! You only get one lap, make it count !!

Check the fuse in the BJB firstly.
Secondly, check to see if it has had the overlay wiring loom fitted. It joins into the loom just infront of the compressor cover, and cable tied to the loom inside of the chassis rail. Have seen a few wiring issues caused by poor repairs
Also, inside the N/S/F wheelarch, the big blue connector with the Green/Yellow wire is guilty for being damaged. This is the main power feed for the EPB motor.
Before taking the car to bits, check to see if it is receiving a good +12.5v at the module
EDIT: If it was the alternator, I would expect to see a fault code in the PCM for low volts My D3 Build Thread

Checked and changed the 5 amp fuse in the glove box, looked at the one under the bonnet looks ok.
When you lift the switch, the brass bar in the actuator turns but no other movement. so it is getting power. Actuator goosed !! You only get one lap, make it count !!

Is it getting full battery voltage at the module though. It may be getting enough power to turn the rod, but not enough to keep the lights off. Have seen that a few times. My D3 Build Thread
