I used to be a loyal K&N filter user, however on another car I had loads of problems with air flow meters and idle control valves. Turned out it was the oil (tiny, tiny particles) leaving the filter and causing a thin film on said components. After doing a bit of a google seems K&N Filters and the like are a bit out of favour on many modern cars and bikes for exactly these reasons."To finish first, one first has to finish ...."

i know that when they are cleaned youre supposed to spray with their k+n oil
wonder if thats when the probs start
never had one in a car over 90thou miles though
