Wonder where I stand? Iv'e angle ground the bottom half of a fixed tow bracket off leaving the top pair of holes for the bottom of the frame! Top is bolted to the recovery point...

Top pic sets parking sensors off, bottom doesn't.Off Roading is OK.... But I'd rather be Boating!

Don't think nanny would like it. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

no they could not do anything as you are using proper made things the chances of that braking and causing an accident is nilHome of RLD Hidden winch mounts Spare wheel Locks Trailer Body Fabrication ray@rld-tech.co.uk D3/4 sump plates MY 14 sump plates and the Discovery Sport wheel protectors Discovery 5 wheel locks

Disagree, nothing un-TUV approved should be fitted as towing equipment to anything (from memory) 1998 onwards - "proper made" or not, bike racks, towbars the lot - EVEN if the design of the car and bar hadn't changed since pre-1998, the equipment must be TUV marked else it illegal to use on a post 1998 car.Cheers

I'm sure its probably strong enough, that isn't the issue...the problem would occur IF an insurance assessor looks/checks for TUV compliance, then the driver would be in trouble. Try explaining to any other parties insurance how you will be personally covering the bill as you have no insurance cover - that is the possible outcome. Personally I'd avoid that possibility but that is personal choice.Cheers

This is where the "It was on there when I bought it Mr" Phrase comes in handy.
Would rather use uncle Ray's monster of a hitch, as stated above, the gen LR item is too low for nearly ALL plant applications therefore creating a higher chance of CAUSING an accident!
Right thats my pennys worth in

To be fair similar here in that it has to be passed by an engineer and rated each given a serial number in orderto be legal so to be covered by insurance if there is a problem. I suppose the testing isn't as complex or expensive.“There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

I have just finished towing an Ivor Williams trailer with two Atlas Copco 40kva diesel generators side by side, an Abac 13hp screw compressor behind and a Stephill 26 kva diesel across the back, the back of the car was full of cables, splitter boxes, light units, plasma cutters, welders, pop up tents and personal kit around the agricultural shows in Scotland using the standard towball. The outfit was as steady as a rock, crusing in 6th gear.Chipped, K&N, tow pack, AT2's, Mantec, fridge in boot, invertor, Garmin, laptop/Memory Map, Optima yellow top, Traxide Kit, Phillips Extreme bulbs

I rotated the plate on my hitch yesterday and it took it up exactly where I needed it. Not a completely straight forward job as the little green handle tingy got in the way of one of the bolts that attaches the ball/pin hitch, plus i skinned my knuckles and tripped over the tool box. Will have to get the parking sensors de-activated though as they are now being set off by the new height.
