Has anyone ever had puncture sealant in their tyres? Some of the shops offering this service claim it can even seal bullet holes?!!
I'm tempted - just to save the hassle of changing the tyre, especially for SWMBO, but was wondering if there are any ill-effects. Also, can you still air-down the tyre when offroad?

I've had ultraseal in all my bike tyres and on my rally car (on the road not in an event as that wouldn't be allowed  )
Can safely say that you can adjust air pressures no problem. It's not the cheapest but it works very, very well when blasting round the alps, spotted a blue blob in the tread when back at the hotel, sure enough it had sealed a nail sized hole. Checked pressures and seemed to have lost about 1 or 2 PSI max.
Not considered putting it in the D3, but now you have mentioned it . . . . . "To finish first, one first has to finish ...."

Bullet holes hey - must be a Seffrrican product . I have used the one that you get in a can to repair punctures and it worked well . Also it dries in the tyre so you can infalte and delate as per normal . AFAIK the one you're talking about stays semi - liquid in the tyre

Works well BUT cannot balance tyres afterwards .....fine for quads,trailers etc. I had to have the sealant removed from my D3 tyres and cleaned and re-balanced.

Brucehun - I assume it must have settled at the bottom of the tyre when they put it in - which brand did you use?
Heine - you're spot on - who else would advertise bullet resistance apart from a seffrican company 
Thanks for the info 90BHP - I'll shop around and see if we get ultraseal here. I'm still tempted to try it  if I do, I'll report back on how it goes.

no problem with balance on bike or rally car. You have to follow the instructions for the amount to add to your specific tyre size.
ps has to stay liquid or it would be hard pressed to fill the holes "To finish first, one first has to finish ...."

Hi Jonty
The product was imported from the UK( I don't want to give out a name-pm if you need it). They guys measure the exact amount according to the size of tyre. You then have to drive for at least 7km's for the sealant to adhere etc. The idea is that it sticks to the inside of the tyer and only a small amount 'slops' around. They could not get this right hence the unbalance or imbalance. They paid for the removal/cleaning and re-balance as they could not get it right. It works really well on quad bikes. I had a total of 32 'punctures' on one ride and not one flat- all from thorns.
So imho it works well for most aplications but not for cars.
