Landrover cellphone aerial?

Has anyone got a picture of what the factory fit aerial for the car kit looks like? Also, anyone know if this is available as an add-on, and whether the wiring happens to be there on all cars?

Thanks

The antenna is in the "fin" along with the satellite radio antenna, if fitted. I'm not sure if the wiring is in all Disco3s / LR3's or not, but it's easy to check - the antenna cable is an RG58 sizted coax that runs within the right hand side rear "compartment (above where the jack is) - if you snap the top up/ pull the unit out from the side you may see it in the harness. If satellite radio is fitted there are two. Not sure if navigation adds a third, but I would suspect it does.

Another option in looking for the antenna cable is to pull out the powerport / cigarette lighter in the center console (for the rear seats) - if you see coax connected by a purple connector, that's it (it's a Fakra SMB connection). I'm *almost* set with a solution (hopefully!) to fit any cell phone to said antenna, involving that connector and an adapter to a female FME style connect that you can get an adapter for most cell phones with.

Good luck...and let us know what you find!

Thanks for that. I've been told mine won't have the wiring, so am now looking at an aftermarket BT kit and a winscreen mount aerial and phone cradle for simplicity.

MY08.5 have the fin but only a BT car kit so not external antenna support or cradle. The cable may well still be there if its part of the loom... but will not enter the interior as it would have no where to be connected. Only way to check it to pull it apart and have a look I guess.

Assuming your new one will have it fitted... the GPS antenna is in the rear third brake light above the hatch BTW.

So how come the fin is fiited to yours Simon?

If your D3 has bluetooth only and no sirius/sat radio, then why did LR fit the fin? Or am I missing something (as usual Laughing )?

As usual your missing something mate Wink

Mine is MY2008 and has the cradle with antenna connection. Just don't use it all.

MY08.5 saw the deletion of the cradle in the centre cubby box.

Cell phone shark fin

Well I pulled mine off. It is from a 2007 HSE with sat radio and the cell phone cradle (which is now gone)

There is a gold and maroon connector. The gold one is for the sat radio the moroon one is for the cell phone.

Pictures attached.

Since we are on the topic, any idea if this antenna can handle 3 watts of power?
