Blocked Sunroof Drain channels
Hi Guys,
Anyone know how to unblock the sunroof drain channels?
If it rains overnight, any standing water on the roof ends in my lap leaking through the headlining and light cluster.
Dealer has said that they would need it for 2 days to sort and as the vehicle is out of warranty then that would cost a fortune...anyone had similar and know a fix?"you cannot teach stupid people to do clever things"

Are you kidding??? I thought this was a D1 problem, developed in the TD5 and sorted for the 3
Do I really need to keep the seat covers on and wear a bl**dy sou'werster in a 3 ?? Eeeish some things always same, same but different
Had my drain channels shot through with air while it was being serviced, then sealed with silicon sealer Seems to have done the trick, but I was advise the tubes may come off the and then you are FORECAST FOR TONIGHT: things have happened out there!!!

Is there a drain channel on both sides, or just 1? I poured some water into the sunroof drain channel, and it cleared itself on the drivers side (dripping from the rear front wheel arch) but the passenger side water just sat there.Previously:

AFIK this was a problem in earlier models - BUT if yours is out of warranty then I can't imagine that is was not a problem to the previous owner if it was a manufacturing related problem. Perhaps there is just gunge caught in the channel - would it be possible to pass a fine stiff wire through the channel or some sort of air pressure cleaning?
Happy to be corrected. Dealers probably are thinking of doing the 'warranty' fix for the manfactuing defect issue - this involves replacing the drain channels.

IMHO there's just one, which can be blocked when off-roading ...
had the same problem with mine (2005) and to be honest, the dealer didn't make a point of it, they just cleared the drain pipe from the stuff that was stuck into, and cut out the last part of the pipe so it's less probable to get it blocked again ...
2 days for ... geez, some are unbelievable D4

DRAIN TUBES
Hi Steve,
Had the same problem with mine 6months ago.
Local stealer wanted the car for 2/3 days, i found another chap local to me Sheffield.
To fix, Aparantly the whole roof linning has to be dropped, wheel arch liners taken out then repairs to the tubes can be done, Local chap had it a full day, charged me £300 No parts-just labour.
Since then i have met a grease monkey that works at the local stealer, who suggests he could have done the job for 150
Not much good as a saving for you to travel, however if you pm me i could pass on his number, He might just be able to explain the procedure
It takes about 30 minutes a side, and if there's a blockage try pouring some water down the drain tube and blowing down it as hard as you can . Worked on mine, clearing a block on both nearside drains. Now all 4 corners drain off fine.Previously:

Hi,
How strange, just have finished doing one in the workshop today.
Land rover suggest removing wheel arch liners enough to get at the end of the drain tubes. The little valves are very small, it is suggested to trim them slightly to enlarge the hole, to stop them getting re-blocked.
The driver's side one which is visible when you remove the air intake grille, is usually blocked by the foam pad, & you can cut the foam away to help.
There is a TSB LA501-014
Regards
Steve
