5000km Roadtrip - repeat with 1-year old truck |
|
I just came back from a repeat of last year's 5000km road trip. The car is now one year old exactly and we repeated the same road.
See this second review here:

Better to BE here! It just kind of slipped... my bad. But I'm back, and as you see the LR3 is going strong.

Welcome back, and great trip you had.
You mention some niggles in your write up that are covered by Technical Service Bulletins, to be addressed "upon customer complaint only"
The one bulletin you may be interested in is LA415-003 which covers a whole host of stereo/sat nav issues including the rear control problems.
They are all available on the Land Rover GTR site for a small fee, maybe get your dealer to look them up for you?
There is another one on there to sort out the intermittent PDC if you suffer from it. It is coded LA413-001 and is actionable "after customer complaint only"

Fantastic: that's excellent news. Dealers tend not to know these things, so the numbers are extremely helpful. Thanks!

Odd. I just checked: LA415-003 is not available on the site. -004 is ("CD Error Message During Loading"), but no -003. Same for the other one. Could be because I indicated I am in North America, I suppose?

Oh - they did not show up until I actually paid for a day's access. Found them!
And downloaded them all to go over them - very useful indeed. Thanks again!

Some scary stuff there... here's a few of the possible Damocles' swords my VIN range has:
- Will my paint deteriorate? The fact that LR have issued a special paint map in order to "categorise and understand the paint complaints" could be a tad worrying...
- Will my parking brake clip break? (LA206-002)
- Will my hood start vibrating and moving due to the known insufficient room (LA501-004)?
- Will my A-pillar start leaking (LA501-006)?
- Will I get water ingress (LA501-012)?
- Will my seat cushion develop a gap to the back rest (LA501-011)?
Presumable it's all "no", but I'd be happier with the systems fixed before they break, not after... what say you?

I just had a look, and there is some new stuff on there. I take comfort from the appearence of some known issues on there. It shows that Land Rover are perhaps addressing some of the issues in a structured way.
I would not for a minute expect yours (or my) car to develop all the faults, but if they did, there is a procedure for the dealer to follow.
