Is yours Euro 5 or 6? Assuming 5?
Unfortunately, the 700 is still cheap when you consider what other European nations have to pay. Set up a direct debit and forget about it. Defender 110 2.4 TDCi Utility Station Wagon.

I only use the D4 mainly for towing the tin hut , but looking at the cost of some vehicles, i won’t be upgrading

Just don’t do what the average public do and give your high tax car away as px, then spend £20k ontop of trading that vehicle in just for a cheaper tax band car Defender 110 2.4 TDCi Utility Station Wagon.

G3Z, Completely agree!
My wife often laments the amount of money I spend on the D3 and granted, I get her point. However, I bought it 3 years ago for £4,200 at 140k and no service history so I knew what I was getting into. I'm in about £12k in total which seems nuts but lots is preventative repair and some where things went wrong.
However, I do now have a pretty well sorted D3 with importantly, a decent chassis without any major rust to be concerned about and considering what it does in terms of practicality (family of 5, touring caravan etc etc), it's still a complete bargain!
Also - I'm really starting to hate all new cars. The touch screens and EU regs on safety bongs and systems really puts me off regardless of money. I really enjoy keeping this old tank on the road. My green credentials are balanced back by my electric bike and scooter which I use for most city transport.

I pay €1250 here in Ireland for my 7 seater but most D4's are 5 seater commercial class which means that it is €333, if you have the VAT number / herd number etc but so many are run privately AT RISK. However, there were a few early years of the D4 that a 7 seater is €2,200! I thin the 2010 to 2012 6 speed ones.
