Query about maintenance - buying advise
Hi all,
I've seen a 62 plate Disco 4 on auto trader near me with 90,000 miles with 2 owners and always been serviced by an LR main dealer.
It's in really good condition and the MOT shows its only done 6-7000 miles a year an only failed an MOT because of a rear brake bulb failure and might need the front lower arms changing and new tyres soon-ish
The only thing that concerns me was two things
- The current owner doesn't know if the cambelt has been changed but has only owned the car for 4 years so it might have been changed before ownership
- It went for a service fairly recently with 5-6000 miles since and oil change and LR said it didn't need changing and to wait until 10,000 miles or another 6/12 months
The second point really concerns me because I guess the same might apply to other services.
Do others agree to walk away from it?
I was wondering if I phoned an LR dealer and give them the Reg they might be able to list out when all the oil changes were and if the cam-belt/s had been done

If you get the VIN you should be able to view the full service record if it’s always been done at LR main dealer.
The VIN is visible from the side of the windscreen from the outside.

Based on schedule then the cambelt would need to have been done in 2019/2020 depending on exact month of registration and it’s going to need doing again in a couple of years.
If everything else is ok with it and the seller would be willing to drop the price for the cost of a cam belt service I wouldn’t be out off buying it.

Thanks, I managed to get the VIN and can only see 2 services - 1 at 36,000 and another at 77,000 so not entirely sure it's been looked after...think I'll stay away from it - little worried there will be alot of wear on the bearings
