I can offer you the service to refurb your current 3 button flip key fob to a brand new status.
I've been doing this service via eBay for a while now and recently Martin and I have agreed I will be a "Site Supporter" with revenue from this going back into the forum.
The service involves having to cut open the old key and fit the PCB into a new fob shell. These are a to open up if you don't have the right tools/patience/experience and the new ones HAVE to be bonded together or they fall apart. Not a job for the faint hearted but I've done lots of these now including my own and my mum's too (we were the guinea pigs).
The most common fault with these is the buttons cave in and could allow water into the PCB.
You get a brand new 3 button flip Key fob
Your original blade is re-used - no need to get one cut
There is NO need to re-programme anything
It will work as normal but look brand new
It will have a new rechargeable battery soldered in
Key fob comes with a new split ring too
I include a new spare blade in case you need to get one cut in the future
Your dealer will charge you £200, as they can only sell you a new key which involves reprogramming, new blade cut etc, they don't have the ability to utilise your old key at all.
You send me a key and I will post back First Class Signed for by 1pm guaranteed.
Total cost £49 per key. PM me to get things going.
NB: Key must work, I can't fix PCB errors or re-programme. If the micro switches are broken I cannot fix these.
(I can also renew/upgrade your 5 button key fob as used on Discovery 4s, Range Rover Sport, Range Rover, Evoque - see my other advert.)

Can you upgrade the D3 3 button key to a D4 5 button key with
all functions working - i.e. not cosmetic only.

Have you cleared this service with the site admin?
If you haven't, could I tactfully suggest you send Martin a PM as I believe you'll have to become a site sponsor to promote your commercial interest on the forum.

Looks interesting - Good Luck.
No mention of fitting a new battery if required?

I have done batteries, it's very fiddly and the trouble with 'dead' keys is there's no proof it worked before, so it's a trust thing.
The 3 button can't be changed to the 5 button, it's a totally different PCB in every way. Sorry.

Narpy,
All OK'd with Martin in advance, I wanted to ensure I met forum rules. A site supporter is different to a Site Sponsor though. I am the former, not the latter. I think I put this in the right section....

I have just availed myself of this brilliant service. Sent off my fob on Tuesday, battery tested and internals installed in new fob. Received fully working fob via Royal Mail today. Looks and feels like new. Excellent work for £30 plus £2.06 first class postage signed for.
Just sent off my second fob for the same treatment. Well satisfied.

Just to remind you, you can still have this done - the advert may be old but the day is young!
