Will D4 front half shafts fit straight onto a D3?

As the title says, for reasons of removing bottom wishbone.
Would I be correct that the D4 front half shafts have a smaller boss going to the hub, allowing the bottom wishbone swivel to come out of its housing without removing the half shaft when changing the arms, or is the whole hub assembly different?
