I have the 6.5l model. Comes with 3 hoses. I purchased a length of fuel line from Halfords to fit tightly over the extractor pipe and end of hose.Gary

Can anyone post a link to one of these suction devices for extracting the oil?
Don't pay those prices though.
Unbranded ones are plenty on eBay, and they look like direct copies and work just fine. I bought a 9-litre one.

Interested to know if anyone with an Adblue model which has calling for an early service has had their oil analysed and what the resultant fuel percentage was. It would be interesting to know if it shows up as the 6-7% the car has calculated.Gary

I’m planning to do just that.
The Miller Oil sample kit is £40 which looks like it includes the test and results.1998 Defender 110 TUM HS FFR Hard Top XD WOLF

The worst fuel dilution I’ve had in all the time I’ve been analysing my non AdBlue D4 oil is 2.5% (actual). See chart below.

Yes noticed that. Was your car calling for a service or was that just a routine change?Gary

These hand pump ones are fine and useful for mowers and allsorts too. No battery needed.

I can’t remember the last time I waited for the car to remind me to service it!! It gets an A service every 6 weeks and a B service annually. M car works hard in the spring/ summer then sits virtually unused n the winter.

I haven't had the problem but mine very rarely does short journeys (I have an EV for that).
To be honest the reason for that policy was more about avoiding too many times running the engine without getting it fully warmed up right through to the tailpipe, any diesel is prone to warm up very slowly.
At least with the suction pipe its very easy to do an inter service oil change.A visitor from the dark side, my other vehicle is an is still an EV. Strictly speaking its SWMBO.

I briefly had a 2017 FFRR and it was absolutely shocking on the service interval calculation. Long steady drive, it would count down about 5x faster than the actual mileage covered. The OBC fuel consumption was also overstated by about 20%. Possibly connected. And lots of other annoying details. Even the supposed amazing ride quality was a disaster. It's just very, very soft and made all of us feel seasick.
Awful car. I was delighted to see the back of it.

In the OP’s original post, it seems you let 15000 mi go by, before the oil change.
Happy you are saving money but I wouldn’t do that. Especially with the deisel.
It may surprise you to learn I have the oil and filter changed every 5000km.

The OP was talking about the car demanding a service frequently due to fuel getting into the oil causing oil dilution. Particularly prevalent on Adblue models.
In other words, this isn't simply a good idea. The car is telling you it needs it, often at intervals significantly less than 6000 miles.Gary
