Right guys I went out to the D3 earlier and it wouldn't start. Wouldn't do nothing. Doors kept clunking like there were constantly unlocking and hazards flashing. Radio and sat nav screen would come on for couple of seconds then go off. And HDC message came up.
Am I right in thinking it's the dreaded instument cluster failure?

Yesterday first of all I thought it was battery so I connected a boost pack to the battery and it still wouldn't start

It sounds electrical. As mentioned above, check the earth lead connection to the body from the battery . Heavy duty jump start cable can be used as a temporary solution.
Good luckGary

I had the exact same issue last year: I'd turn the key and all the central locking would go mental and lights flashing and warning lights popping up on the dash. I was worried it was due to me updating ECU data through the Gap tool and thought I'd bricked the ECU, but I put a brand new battery in and it fixed everything. Tested the old battery and it wouldn't charge; these vehicles are very sensitive to battery issues.
