Terrafirma 270 degree awning on a D3

Evening all, does anyone currently run a terrafirma 270 degree awning on their D3 / D4?

I realy want to swap out my current awning for one but concerned as to whether it will snag on the boot door when open (specially with the ladder attached) or not. Only pictures I seem to find of them is on the terrafirma 110.

Hey Disco,

Bought one in the end, absolutely love it Smile the only down side is what I suspected, the tailgate with ladder doesn’t go as high as I should with the awning open so you have to watch your head when working round the back, lovable with though as the outdoor kitchen means I only tend to use the rear for getting in and out. I did fit it so it did it increase the height of the existing roof rack if car park heights weren’t an issue or I removed it between uses it could go higher and the issue would go away.

Deployed in seconds, very stable and easy to close back up, well worth it.

Got the flatdog rack on, another good piece of kit. Still getting into car parks with a 2.1m height restriction although certain rear muscles start clench as I drive round inside Smile

Hi,

How badly does it foul the rear ladder? I've got one to go on my camper trailer and a pull out one for the car, neither installed yet, and I'm thinking of using the 270 for a trip to Cornwall before fitting it to the trailer.

Cheers

How I’ve got it fitted (low) it probably reduces the head height under the tailgate by 6 inch when open. But the mounting position was my choice. If I’d swapped the brackets round so it was level or above rather than below the rack there probably wouldn’t be any issue at all.

I've got the FR rack with quick release mounts, so not sure how low that sit. I'll probably just have to try it out. I don't want too much height as I'd like to get in some of the height restricted car parks, we usually take a roof box buy I'm not this year for that reason.

OOI did you get the walls too?

Thanks for getting back to me!

I've the walls too, so tempted to take them for a trial, but not sure as I'd not use them it'd be purely to have a play! My pull out awning is a Direct 4x4 one and I also got a side wall for it, if I take the 270 I'll take that with me and see if it works / looks OK.
