Gearbox stuck in park
Well it had to happen one day I guess.
After 8 years with a disco3 and nearly 10 years with current disco 4 the car left me stranded for the first time. Don’t get my wrong they’ve had a few niggles over the years, usually the common things, but never left me stranded before.
Stuck in park, car in caravan storage yard at the time. Had driven there no problem and no prior warning that anything was wrong.
Recovered to local indie who ordered up and replaced the gearbox control unit. Said they’ve been having a few of these recently. Some with the gear change knob refusing to rise, others, like mine, stuck in park.
Anyway, back on the road in 2 days, warranty covered it.

Happened to me the other week.
I think this is actually an easy fix. It requires re-soldering a few resistors where the PCB connections seem to burn out over time, I suspect due to the large current going across them.
When it happened to me, I managed to get a few more 'go's at it before it finally gave up. If you're lucky enough that it stopped working but then worked the next time then this is the time to get it sorted.
I'm in Cheshire, but if anyone wants me to have a go fixing theres if it does do this, or even as a preventative measure PM me and we can see what we can do. I've seen some people on ebay offering the service for £150 quid which is very excessive. It's a ten minute job (once you've got it out of the car!).
