Gear Selector Module - DIY fixing - Request for Info

My GSM has done the ‘stuck in park’ thing and I’m aware there are a few companies charging a rather extortionate £150 or so to ‘refurbish’ - which I’m guessing is they swap out some dodgy passive electronics components on the board.

I’m rather handy with electronics so I’m going to attempt to have a go at my (possibly) broken one - it may just be the brake switch that needs swapping out, so I’ve got one on order.

Given preparation is perfection, I’m after advice if anyone knows what these companies are doing? I’ve seen a post elsewhere about swapping out a 1R resistor somewhere.

If or when I get to the point of doing open heart surgery on it, I’ll try and write a guide.

So turns out it was the resistors that needed resoldering.

Quick video here so that people can find it on youtube. Details in the description of how to remove the module and pull it apart (others videos!).
