Line boring bearing choice

So after the strip done and discovery of the usual snapped crank, I want to get the block checked and line bored. Never needed to have this done as all engines I’ve rebuilt have been upto the job and the crank has stayed complete! How does the process work? I assume it removes a small amount of block and cap material to align them all. Presume you then fit different bearings to maintain the crush and keep the clearance on the crank journal?
