Thank You And Goodbye After 224,000 Miles
I bought my 2006 Disco3 in 2012 with 83,000 miles on the clock. used it for commuting for 10 years and 2 years in retirement.
A few weeks back it effectively failed its MoT for loads of rot, worn out suspension and prop centre bearing. I did 140,000 miles in it. So 224,000 miles on the clock.
Paid £13000 for it and got £750 for it for scrap.
Attached to this post is a list of the servicing and repair costs. Nearly £19,000 quid over 12 years Never rev'd it above 2500rpm (I have fast motorbikes for that kind of excitement) and always stayed away from supermarket diesel.
Loved that car. Anyway I will have to console myself with a 2016 Range Rover Sport that amazingly was bought new from the same Land Rover garage in York as the Disco (even though I'm near Manchester) and has done 83,000 miles just like the Disco when I bought it.
And a massive shout out to Andy and his brilliant team at https://www.a1british4x4.co.uk/ in Bury who have done 95% of the maintenance. Greatly influenced why I bought another Land Rover product.
