Low Pressure Fuel Pump Replacement

Morning all,

Is there a tutorial on how to remove the fuel pump from the tank?

Have searched so if there is one I obviously cannot find it.

Thank you

You need to empty the tank first either by driving or pumping it out via the LPFP/schrader valve.

The tank itself is not difficult to drop but it is a bit awkward if done with the car on the ground. A pair of small ratchet straps can be slid under the plastic tank and supported at the chassis rails once the cradle bolts have been loosened enough, and the heat shields and the upper plastic cover at the front has been removed.

The fuel delivery pipework can be detached at the fuel filter and FBH pump allowing the pipes on the tank to come away with it. Then the fuel filler pipe obviously needs to be disconnected at the rear, and lastly once you have dropped the tank slightly you can then disconnect the electrical plug/pipework.

Once the tank is out be careful with removing the individual fuel lines as the clips are brittle, easily damaged and not available separately from the module cover
Once inside the fun really begins Smile and I don't think there's a man alive who's memory can guide you on that bit. Laughing

Actually it's not difficult but it is fiddly with pipes going in all directions, so take careful note of everything before you remove it (pics?) Or, you'll be back here begging for mercy of which there will be absolutely none. Rolling with laughter

Pull the green expander strap and the module case will open up.

Sorry, n o green expander mine.

I think my 2012 TDV6 model has the same set up as the 3.0. You have to twist the fuel pump to remove.

Just reviving this old thread, in the hope for some help.

So I realised that on the D4 the pump module is removed by twisting it, is it meant to have a guaze/filter in it like the one in the D3?

@Chilly_07 - did you manage to separate the pump from the plastic housing? Also where did you source the replacement?

thanks
