Any mechanics on the forum?
My tank was just above empty and I cccidentally put 10L of unleaded petrol in my diesel before noticing π‘π‘π‘. Bloody mis-fuel thingy did not work!
Filled the rest up with 50L of diesel to dilute the petrol (so thatβs about 17% petrol to diesel) drove it home slowly about 3km away. All good so far :
Question - should I now drain the tank and flush?
Thanks

It's a 82 litre tank, so I would just fill up to the top and drive.
If you're worried, just add some 2 stroke oil which acts as a lubricant in the fuel.
Many moons ago truck drivers would mix petrol with the diesel to stop it waxing up in winter.

That's about twice as much as deemed safe in a longer run https://misfuel-solutions.co.uk/safeamountofpetrolindiesel.htm But this is a single occurrence. I'd say - drive gently and keep adding a couple litres of diesel every 50-70 kilometers. Wojtek

Fill the tank and keep putting 2 stroke oil in{not the synthetic oil} for a couple of fill's.

As above, including the 2T oil, but I'd be driving and stopping to fill it up to the brim with a few quids worth of diesel for as long as possible, for maximum dilution in the quickest possible time.

As per the concensus of opinion - keep topping up the diesel & use some mineral 2T. Maybe change the fuel filter earlier than due.
Also, don't thrash it.
I did the same with a diesel Vito some time ago - the only side effect was a lumpty tickover for a while - engine went on to do 250k + miles - never had anything apart from oil/filter changes & only got rid of the Vito due to creeping tinworm.
After a couple of tankfuls I changed the fuel filter as a precaution.

For greater peace of mind I would drain about half of the mixture out and set it aside, then fill to brim with diesel. Then each time I filled tank again I'd include a couple of litres of the mixture until it was all gone. I entirely agree with Navigator
I would drain off more than 50% of the mixture if possible, maybe 75% and then continue as Navigator suggests.
Good luck.
