cold start - Engine Sytem Fault & Special Programs Off |
|
Hi All,
I need some expert advise:
The vehicle is a 2008 Discovery 3 with DPF. DPF was fully cleansed a couple of months ago as we had the DPF full message on the screen – after cleansing all error messages gone.
Now, when the weather got colder Engine system fault came up, actually limp mode and special programs off message. Error codes are:
-UNKNOWN-00 (2F)
-UNKNOWN-00 (6C)
I think - based on Disco3.co.uk information - the first is related to EGR. Both EGR's physically attached to the engine, but software patch was applied.
It comes up when the engine is cold – at cold start.
If I restart the entire car with Gaptool it clears the car and no errors. Even yesterday no engine system fault after starting the car.
Earlier I had a FBH error - it did not want to start, but this error was gone after some magic with the gaptool.
Battery voltage: it was 11.8V when when fired the engine then it went up to 13.x V.
Any help will be appreciated.
Robert

Based on Robbie’s guide I made some further investigation.
Fully charged the battery; after the car went to sleep, measured the following values:
* when, the car was not locked the power usage was ~ 9-10mA
* when the car was locked it went up to ~ 14-15mA
These measures were performed a couple of times, will receive a clamp meter tomorrow and will repeat the process.... Both values are under the threshold of 25mA so I assume no power drain.
Anyway, I ordered a new battery - 100AH 900A EXIDE....
Earlier I had some issues with my Webasto - it did not want to start; with GAPTool i could start it - not sure whether it might have had any impact on cold start ? Any opinion ?
