Parking Sensor Fault, question please |
|
Hi All,
I have looked at the many posts about the PDC faults but I am now stuck, I will list below what I have done and about the fault.
When reversing I was getting the odd ghost beeping when nothing there, this has now progressed to as soon as I start the car I get the long solid beeeep from the rear, also the fronts have stopped working as well
I have listened to every sensor, ignition on, car in reverse and parking brake off and can not hear any of them clicking, the PDC switch on the dash is flashing. I have pulled the fuse 36 and that powers off the whole system (no light and no beeeep)
I was lead to believe that I should hear the sensors clicking apart from the faulty one, I did listen to both front and rear and could hear nothing.
So I am now kind of stuck, suggestions anyone please?
Many thanks in advance, Nigel

Well 1 rear sensor has failed.
Possibly 2 if it’s being going on a long time.
You either need someone with an iid code reader to see what fault codes are present and read what distance the sensors report
Or buy a couple off eBay and replace some rear ones until it starts working again.

Just an update in case it helps anyone else, first of all thanks to forum member Cornishboy who got the codes out the car for me.
I had:
B1B57-11 (2F) Front sensors power circuit - general electrical failure - circuit short to ground
B1B58-11 (2F) Rear sensors power circuit - general electrical failure - circuit short to ground
I unplugged the rear loom and no longer had the long beep so off came the rear bumper and I swapped out the NSR parking sensor for a new one, checked reverse and still had long beep so put the old sensor back into the loom and swapped out the next one across, NSR left of towing eye checked again and fault has gone so that was the faulty sensor 8)
All put together and I now again have working front and rear parking sensors.
Great place this forum for helpful people and information.

I am having the same fault, does that mean I need to swap sensors, one by one to check the fault?

once u confirm if front or rear, all i did was balance the bumper just off the floor and swoped out 1 with a new one, that did not fix it so i put the old sensor back in and then tried the new one in the next location.
The only issue u may have is if more than one has broken, to be honest, I bought 4 just in case but only needed to use one.

I need to have a go at sorting this, I have intermittent sensors. Will need to check them when not working to see which one isnt making a noise.

Hi All,
I get a long tone & occasional proper tones when reversing. I also get a flashing light on the reverse parking button on the dash.
I'm going to look into taking the back bumper off to investigate tomorrow, I don't have sensors on the frnit bumper.
I wanted ask where the best place to source new sensors?
Thanks

Apologies for asking too many questions!
