2nd Compressor Valve in a Year

I should feel lucky that it is such a cheap part to replace. Does anyone have any idea why I keep shredding these compressor exhaust valves? The last one I bought was off Amazon, but it came in OEM packaging. Seems like it should last at least a year.
Another question, since my wife wants the garage back while we're waiting on the part: Fuse 26E is pulled, so I assume it is safe to drive the car 20 feet with the compressor completely removed. Am I right? The car is currently in normal height mode and not leaking any air.
