Engine cover noise insulation foam
The insulation foam that should be stuck to the plastic engine cover is falling a part and to get a new piece of foam you have to buy a new cover which is £140
Can you let me know what everyone else is doing/using to replace the foam

Same here, every time I remove that cover (not that often), more of that foam has turned to dust Interested to find an answer, at a sensible cost.

Just stick in some fresh foam if the cover itself is ok.
You need heat resistant non-absorbant closed-cell foam.

Used heat resistant closed cell foam with foil layer, dead cheap from rubber place. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Well, I bought some of this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251981385122?_tr...rmvSB=true as there was probably less that half of the sound insulation left. I must say, it's worked a treat. Before I could clearly hear the good old diesel rattle when I booted it. Now it's almost all gone. An big improvement. The adhesive is very sticky - I've still got some stuck to my fingers. I'll keep an eye on it and report back if there are any issues, but I'm very pleased with it. Only thing is the minimum order of 1 sq metre means I need to find something else to insulate! Or maybe I'll add another layer ....

Just an update - it's been on for a while now, and has had a selection of fast motorway runs and stuck in traffic situations. Hasn't budged. Nice easy fix.

Here is mine after fitting. Seems to be staying in place. I am going to check that the silver surface is not rubbing on the wiring

My engine cover was a bit rattly so I thought this might cure it.
It seems to click into place much better now and the rattle has gone.
I didn't notice much difference in noise suppression but that's perhaps because the existing foam was more or less intact, just a little compressed.
Edit
I thought others may want to do this so I made another mat from the stuff I had left over. Not looking to make any money out of it but half the cost of the foam seems fair?

Engine cover matting
Hi, just bought some of this https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0BTHNFLDJ from Amazon for £6.99 and there’s enough to do 2 engine covers (or one twice if you are not a craft person and make a mess first time like I did). Seems to do the job and the cover clicks back into place fine with the mat stuck on. Just posting in case anyone else is looking for a cheap option that seems to do the job.

Engine cover foam
Had to do my bi-yearly oil change yesterday & on removing engine cover, cover came off but what was left of foam was left on top of engine, I knew it was a bit knackered but had been putting it off.
Ordered some of the insulated foam from Amazon & will replace it when it arrives.
I have attached a photo to show how bad it was.
