Restricted Perf but with CEL and rough idle at start

Please help!

Last Friday when towing the horsebox (after a week of towing for Pony Camp), the MY2014 TDV6 went into Restricted Performance, cleared on restart after unloading etc.

But the problems have developed further and shortly after I had the Check Engine Light come on, got it over to indie late Friday and they only had time to swap some MAF sensor (I think it was one on top of the engine) to see if that was the cause but Restricted Performance came back, as did the CEL.

I had one manifold replaced last year, but a difference this time is that when I start up, the idle is now really rough or lumpy and almost stalling BUT once the Restricted Performance light comes on, this all settles (but obviously the performance is really restricted, but smoother). I did not have that when previous manifold went.

Will be going back to the indie but it will be later in the week but wanted to see if the above symptoms mean anything to you guys that may help diagnose.

Any guidance would be welcome, thanks

Hoping to get the D4 back to the garage later this week.

Still the same strange behaviour - starts up with the CEL on and while idling or driving the revs drop every 7 or 8 seconds - almost stalling if idling. Rough to drive but usually the red triangle and Restricted Performance kicks in after a couple of minutes. Then the idle / revs settle with no more fluctuation.

I want to give the garage as much info or pointers as possible because I really need her to be back running smoothly next week for a few days in Kerry.

Any thoughts would be welcome, thanks

Did you get any codes from the garage? did they smoke test it before replacing the sensor??

MAP is the one on top of the engine the 2 x MAF sensors are on the inlet next to the air filter box - as a quick test these 2 can be swapped over to see if the idle returns and the issue changes to when the car is being revved.

My guess would be a split hose manifold or air leak somewhere, or a fuel problem, such as blocked filter.

Worth checking the intercooler top hose on the left side at the top of the RAD as they can split on a D4 - mine sounded like a harmonica and had no power when it happened

They have read the fault codes but I am not sure what they got. Not sure about the smoke test either

Turned out to be a faulty MAF, replaced and back to business
