I saw a D4 engine die yesterday! Bramhall village.

If the lady concerned reads this, I hope you get it sorted out.

I was sat outside the Duttons bar, with a couple of mates enjoying a pint and watching the cars go by. We get some nice cars out in the evening and it’s a good spot to enjoy.

An immaculate 66 plate silver D4 came along, not fast, probably about 20mph. It then suddenly made a loud rapid clacking noise and came to a halt right opposite. A restart was attempted, it caught and made the horrible loud clacking sound for a couple of seconds, then stopped again. After that, it would just click when attempted.

Overheard you say you had only just bought it. It was truly immaculate, and one of the last D4’s, so I really hope you got it from a dealer and they do the right thing for you.

Seems a bit odd that a car only just bought fails in such a way. Maybe whoever you bought it off had replaced a blown engine with a cheap low quality unit, and sold it on.

Fingers crossed for you.

You're probably better posting on your local Nextdoor site or FB pages ?

You may well be right about someone moving it on due to known issues, or maybe incorrectly serviced by selling dealer?

I feel for her. My folks have an immaculate run out Landmark, still feels like a new car. I have subtly hinted that maybe it’s time to chop it but their dog loves it and hates their Disco Sport. Just dreading the phone call if it does go bang.

And she (the dog) hated the T-roc that they bought before that for taking her walks, my little sis now has that and her dog loves it!

I took the dog guard out of their D4 on Saturday and did briefly hanker back to the good old days of D3 & D4 ownership. And by briefly I mean very briefly. I’m enjoying the stress free life (well motoring part of it) way too much. Thumbs Up

I do hope so.

I'll add Skoda, Toyota and Suzuki to the stress free (fingers crossed) list as well.

Whilst the FFRR brings a little frisson to the fleet.

Bramhall blues

I forwarded the original post to my friend (Discovery Sport driver) in Bramhall. His only comment was that car spotting is also good from the stools in the windows of the Mounting Stone. We sat there last time I visited and cars normally drive past slowly, so maximising the viewing time.
