Suspension
Hi all
I am stuck 500 miles from home with suspension failure,I have been all through the suspension issues and have run a diagnosis on my Autell and only item I can see relevant is that a compressor issue is intermittent.
I am in Tarbert Scotland so any one local can help or direct me to a local garage for repair, as I can't do anything.
Drive from home to Lancaster and got the issue halfway but seemed to sort itself.then from Lancaster to Tarbert no problems at all some 260 miles.
Yesterday after two miles came on now won't go off when turning ignition off and restarting.
All I read on the form is the usual compressor issues relay ,fuse issues and valve block issues, well I have done the test and the car sits ok on all four corners evenly, and it will go down in sometimes three days or one day but always equally on all four corners.
Lastly at times I have had to drive the car with all the warning lights on and the suspension lowered as the screen displays and no special programs available it's a bumpy ride but seems doable,I know the handling etc is vastly reduced but I have no option to get home apart on a breakdown truck, should I limp home would there be any adverse other damage done to the car.
Only me and the wife one case no luggage on top and no trailor.
Thanks
Pete

Hey Pete, which Tarbert are you in? Is it Loch Fyne? If so my dad lives in Carradale just along the road, he uses a guy in the village who has become a bit of a specialist with the Discos in Kintyre. I can give his contact details if that's the Tarbert you're in (there are lots of Tarberts because it's an old word for a piece of land between two bodies of water over which a boat could be dragged).2005 D3 V8

Hi the contact people you gave me are about 80 miles away from loch Flynn but they gave me another number locally called simple energy or something along that lines on 01546 606767.
They said they quite often get called from people on the forum and it's confusing as they are as said over 80 miles away.
I will call the other guys now.

Hi
It seems my reply to you yesterday didn't get sent.
Thanks for you help very much appreciated and we are having a great time in your wonderful country absolutely outstanding scenery, good beer, very friendly people and empty roads and no parking meters anywhere that's heavily in itself.
Attempt resolve suspension issues.
I bought some tools and removed the satnav screen the suspension issues came up after I removed a sticky phone holder from the screen(which was never used as Google is much better on the phone ) and the screen sort of cracked in a million places very minute cracks but the screen would still worked and was clear, but the touchscreen display was not obeying what I was touching it would do something else, then freeze.
So as we know anything electronic on a D3 can upset all sorts of thing.
Once removed I did a hard reset and the suspension issues disappeared but now the brake pad wear light has taken its place and the yellow warning triangle has also appeared,I can live with that till I get home just hope the suspension doesn't return.
Will keep you posted
Thanks again

Hi all I've just got back from Scotland it wasn't as expected a nightmare the suspension was fine whilst travelling on all motorways onto occasions it went down and that's when I had to break hard because there's some idiots crossing in front of me in the wrong lane I am now home and I have checked the compressor it's an AMK it looks brand spanking new and the fitments look new with a alloy plate I have not seen on other pictures on the forum
and I can't see or locate any kind of leak I suspected that the pump was fine because the car elevates and drops down very quickly with no issues and it only goes down after say two or three days but as said equally on all four corners I am now going to remove the drivers wheel and get inside and check the valves for air leaks any advice on what the situation could be would be a great help.
To drive over 550 miles and it happening twice must be an electrical fault.
I have since noticed when driving normally and I slow down and gently brake the three lights come on and the car lowers itself so I presume from what I've read on here over a couple of years of being on the forum that I might be lucky and it could be a brake light switch which I have now ordered so I'm going to try that will let you know.
Thanks for the input I've received Whatch this space regards Petepete truckle
