Key induction charging test
Quick one, both my keys have stopped working. However had them tested and they are producing a weak signal which could be because they are not charging. Is there a way to test the ignition barrel to see if it is getting power to induct charge the keys. Thanks.
Don't know about the QI pad but ISTR some on here used toothbrush charging bases..

Not sure if D3 keys are the same as Freelander keys of same vintage?
I tried to charge my Freelander 2 key with various inductive charging lash ups and non of them seemed to work. Eventually found out it was because the Freelander hadn't been unlocked for 8 weeks plus so needed to be opened with key. Worked fine after that (i.e. wasn't a flat battery issue)
When I had trouble opening in normal conditions (e.g. normal commuting etc), it turned out to be the battery was shot. Soldered in a replacement battery and it fixed the issue.Discovery 4 HSE - Aintree Green

The QI has to sense the presence of a compatible phone before it will activate the coil.You might be able to trick it with a phone on the base but do you know it is working?
One of my keys when I got the car had a well abused and not recently used spare. Bought a new case with key blank on line. All swopped over, only problem I had was the blade holder had a different diameter pivot so had to knock the roll pin out and swap over the blades as well.
Unfortunately the remote got not a twitch out of the car, no lock or unlock even standing right beside it.
Left it on its side on the wife's Oral-b charger for a day. Completely dumb, the charger works without a brush on the base.
Tried it with the car, worked a treat, didn't even have to re-pair the key.A visitor from the dark side, my other vehicle is an is still an EV. Strictly speaking its SWMBO.
