Discovery 3 2.7TDV6 ticking/tapping only when warm
Dear Forum Member,
I was wondering if anyone is able to shed some light on my Discovery 3. The engine runs absolutely fine, it’s smooth and it pulls extremely well. However once it’s up to temperature it has this ticking / tapping that I can hear when the window is open. I want to say it’s a hydraulic lifter but I was wondering if anyone else has had any similar sounding issues. This is a link to hear what it sounds like

Sounds like a 2006 TDV6! Think that's fairly standard. Richard

Yes, still go sound deadening. It only happens when full up to temperature, it’s from the O/S quite low. I’ve taken another video, it’s a lot louder under the arch. Possibly an exhaust leak as it’s only when it’s fully up to temp, can be heard idling and up to 2000rpm. Here is another video

I have had the same on the jobs list for some time… figure it is an exhaust leak. Show me how easy it is to fix!
