So, I fitted the official LR dog guard and about ten minutes after I finished I found my cockerpoo sitting in the drivers seat. She had got round the side of the guard between it and the window. Any ideas on filling the gap ?

It’s not fitted properly if she can do that! I had one fitted (properly) and none of my cats could get round it so I can’t see a dog managing it! I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

She is a 9 month old cockerpoo.
She jumps up from her bed in the back onto the side bin moulding where the rear ICE headphone sockets are and then gets over the C post bracket into the car. She can only do it when stationary mind you.
The dog is agile enough to not need the lower tailgate opening to get in the car. She jumps in over the raised tailgate from the ground even at normal height setting.

Sorry, couldn't help but chuckle at the topic description and issue.
You'll never beat a dog, they are too clever.
Ours always wins. He's headstrong and if he wants to do something, he will do it, we just give in.
