How I added Bluetooth audio aux, with a broken aux socket

Mods, can you move this to the D3 ICE forum please, my bad, posted in wrong place.

Decided to take a look at the faulty socket on the D3 today. I only had audio from the front speakers, nothing from the rear. (Now I know a bit more about the system I think it was actually the logic7 system masking the left right fault) but anyway, wiggling the socket made it come and go, so time for a fix.

I have no requirement to ever plug anything other than the Bluetooth adaptor into the socket, so decided to hard wire it but with the goal of not cutting any landrover wires so it could be easily undone.

First step, remove the aux panel from the rear of the center console. This is easy, grab top tug a bit and it’s out.

Remove the 2 torq screws and the one smaller and pull both circuit boards out.

I then used a hot air gun to totally remove the socket. I figured this was what was actually causing the problem. The socket ground out the left and right to avoid noise when nothing is plugged in. I wasn’t worried about this so, off it came.
I then cut the plug off the Bluetooth audio adaptor and with some multimeter probing worked out where the left, right and earth connectors are where the socket was. I fed the wire through the aux hole, then soldered them to the panel like in the photo.

Then, it’s just a case of putting it all back together and I used a dab of glue to stick the Bluetooth receiver to the case. You could just as easily hide all this away inside, but for me this works just fine

Hope this helps anyone else with a dodgy aux jack!
