I have recently purchased a 2008 D3 HSE. Upon checking the in car satnav I have found that when selecting Navigation on the screen it displays "The inserted disc is not a MAP DVD". Unfortunately the previous owner had passed away and his wife does not know much about the car and so I'm unable to check whether they had the same issue.
The DVD player under the passenger seat spins up okay and is obviously trying to read the DVD, and the inserted DVD that came with the car looks official although very scratched.
On this basis I have purchased a new MAP DVD with the 2018 maps, (I believe this is the last update from Land Rover), however it has the same issue with the new DVD and showing the same error message.
Has anyone had this issue before?

You could waste your time replacing the dvd drive in the hope it fixes it.
However the result would still be a c*** nav system with no sense of direction.
You could spend your money on fitting a d4 unit which still seams ok today. (Well it can’t be updated, so is lacking new post codes )

Or just use a phone etc.

Thanks for the quick response Pete. I have read the D3 satnav is useless and have a Garmin satnav with reverse camera and lifetime updates fitted so not a major issue. I just hate having something fitted as standard that doesn't work.......more of an OCD issue I think than an essential/expensive fix!
I'll perhaps try and leave alone if there is no easy fix.
