Water pump gasket sealant : with or without ?

Hello,
I'm just about to change my Water pump and I'm wondering if I need to use gasket sealant or if I just put the "dry" gasket without anything (Like indicated in the manual I received with the pump)

Thanks in advance for your experience

The reason sealant isn’t recommended is because “spillage” may cause problems in the system, I usually use a very fine smear of grease Thumbs Up
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

If it is the "metal" gasket the recomendation is clean both surfaces well and do not use sealant.
