2.7 engine breather layouts?
I have just lifted the body off a D3 to replace (broken) cam chains and do some corrosion protection. I see much evidence of recent work, at significant cost. One example is new rear belt and tensioner, but the retaining bolt worked loose and feel out damaging the thread.
The breather pipe normally routed under the vaccum pump into the block is not connected, resulting in oil vapour coating the engine and gearbox. With all other 2.7 engines I have worked on, there is a hole cast into the block with a pipe going through it. On this engine there is no hole, so how do I make this a closed breather as it was originally?

This is a late D3 engine, so I'm guessing that the 2.7 block casting was modified and became 3.0L. I have found two different pipe setups, later breather boxes have two connections at the bottom. One feeds into the turbo inlet and the other goes to rear of crankcase.
Since this engine block does not have a rear connection I am going to fit a later breather box and close the second outlet. Unless anyone sees a problem with this, or has a better solution.Chris
