Drivers seat dropping
Just got myself disco 3, 2.7 2007.
So hello to everyone and anyone …. Couple of small niggles most of them I’ll be sorting out over the next week or so but nothing major.
But the one which is really annoying me is the manual drivers seat keeps dropping. Nothing to do with knocking the lever on the side because it does it when I’m driving, and my ain’t that big that it hangs over the edge of the seat and hits the lever.
Did a google search and it seems it was quite common on the manual seats but no real answer on how to solve the problem.
Does anyone have a solution to this issue or is it find an electric seat and swap it out.
Thanks

My seat drops sometimes as well. But not when driving, only when left overnight etc.

I’ve noticed my electric seat’s backrest seems to rise, I need to press the memory position button to restore to “normal” every now and then.

You've got manual seats in a 2007 D3 SE? I thought they all came with electric leather Richard

2007 and definitely manual seats , they might of been switched before I don’t know but there definitely manual.
Quick look under the seat this afternoon and there are two cylinders which extend up with the lever on the side of the seat. Either they don’t hold my weight or they have lost all the oil.
Don’t see a part number on them not sure if I can buy them separately or not.

kajtzu , thanks for the link.
Unfortunately I can't see it listed as a separate part. And the base is roughly 500 pounds !!!
Think I need to look for a used electric seat, has to be cheaper.

I had this with manual seats, it was caused by my backside hitting the lever getting in and out of the car. Cured by cutting a piece of 2” x 1/2” wood, painted it black and jamming it under the lever using stick on Velcro to secure. Seat never moved after that 👍

Sinking seat
I did exactly the same. Working a treat after all these years. Probably the lowest tech solution available to a Disco 3 owner!

Thanks for the replies, I've tried blocking the lever but this hasn't helped.
Next step is to look for a good used electric seat and switch it out .... anyone got an electric seat in black.
