I think the first questions would be how many miles has the engine done, were the belts & oil pump changed, and if so at what mileage(s).

Re: seized engine

Hi,
firstly im not a petrol head or experienced mechanic.
That said im a little confused as to how my engine decided to die on me.
No warning, no noise, just whilst on cruise control at 70mph it stopped.
The garage said it has seized and the crank is stuck fast.
So in my simple head i do not understand how in a split second, an engine can go from turning over at a fast rate to dead stop with no warning.
I'd like to add it only had a full service 6 weeks ago. and had only ever done road miles.
any insight appreciated, thank you

And my sage advice would be ……………..
Strip her! Apart from the fact your car’s worth over double as a pile of parts it’s very therapeutic if you’ve got the time, energy and can keep things organised.
@ajcw it’s always sad when someone comes on to the site and their first post is “help, my engine’s just packed up” but you’re not the first and by no means will be the last.
