I had exactly the same gap on one of the seats (passenger I think) when the dealer changed my front seat swabs - I took it back into them and the sorted it out in 20min whilst i waited.

Just poor quality control!

Adjust your seat and the gap is gone. Had this gap since the beginning. Spoke to the dealer and they showed me that if you level the seat horizontal the gap is gone. Frontside up. backside down creates the gap.

Thanks for the responses Thumbs Up

So if I have read correctly the gap should be there by design although who in all reality has the seat level when driving, it somewhat defeats the ability to adjust the seat to support the legs etc..... Rolling Eyes

There is/was a TSB about this. Its TSB No.LA501-015/2005

TSB LA501-015 wrote:

Summary
A customer may report a concern of an excessive gap developing between the seat base cushion and the seat back backrest.

Cause: Under certain heavy load conditions to the front of the seat cushion, the front tilt bracket may pivot causing a gap to appear at the cushion/backrest line.

Action: Should a customer express concern regarding the above, refer to the Service Procedure detailed in this bulletin.

A new tilt bracket, part number HGM500010 is called for in the TSB to cure the problem.

Sorry, I'm not sure how difficult it is. I got the info from a stored page I had from the wsm. Ideally, you could buy a days subscription to Topix and download the full tsb and manual. Unfortunately I have lost the diagram.

Hi simoniz,
Pure speculation on my part, but is it possible that the seat tilt bracket has been swapped front - back?

Best Wishes,
