Steering Rack Removal

Anyone removed the steering rack from a Disco 4 ? Just after tips really or even better if there is a guide on here….I’ve had a good look but surprisingly i can’t see anything. Corroded steel steering fluid pipes on the back have gone, I’ve got 1 pipe off working underneath car but on the other pipe the nuts are corroded too much and I cannot grip them, so I reckon take the rack out easiest solution

Not removed a Disco 3/ 4 steering rack, but RR Sport one was surprisingly easy with fixings and links undone.

Hi Chris, yeah it doesn't look complicated, but I've started jobs on this before that end up as another job....just don't want to miss or overlook something....sensors etc

There is a sensor plug to remove, fairly obvious and not difficult. Undo hydraulic pipes and drain p/s oil. The rest is spanner work. Count the turns on each track rod end, and match on replacement rack, to get reasonable tracking. Need tracking properly setup ASAP.
Be careful to centre the steering before disconnecting joint to the rack, and do not turn the steering wheel until new rack is centered and connected, this is important to retain clock spring setting.
