Made my D4 Camper for European Journey
Just back from a 5000-mile European Journey with my wife and my 8 yr daughter. Most of the 15 nights, we stayed inside our D4 camper, comfortable sleeping (I am 6 feet tall )and very cozy.
I do not want to change anything outside of the car, so I gave up roof top tent (just do not like it) and slept inside. Removing chairs as many as possible is vital to get more space for bedding and luggage storage- we moved 4 from a 7 seat Diesel D4. We built up a quite good bed between the two front seat for my little one. she just loves it. The baby bed can be converted to our breakfast table by screwing in 4 legs in 3 mins - bed in nights and table in day time.
We also stored some tools inside the spear tire underneath, where there is a big space to use.
Removing chairs as many as you can to save fuel cost and get comfortable space - we removed 4 which is over 100 kgs.
Put new carpet --- the original black one is too thick to install my fridge and an extra 180AH Li battery under the bed.
3 seats in moving
a 200cm x 140cm bed for two adults, with a big luggage space underneath
A front bed for baby
Use the empty space inside the spare tire
All done for departure

The 30L fridge works very well with the extra 180AH Li battery which is recharged by the car.

Great job, but hope you remembered to tighten that nut up.
Is this now a permanent conversion or will you be putting the seats back in over winter?

Hope the youngster didn’t lean on the horn buttons in the middle of the night! That would make you popular on campsite!

Thanks Ronp --- I have tightened that terminal nuts. Yes, it is for holiday only, I will put at least another two seats (the second row)back soon.
