My son is joining me to drive through France. Trains booked both ways and he has been insured temporarily on the Disco for a week recently no problem. However, my insurers have refused to cover him for Europe which is a disaster as we leave on Thursday. thought it might cost £200 or so but cheapest quote is £540 online and that’s with the insurers who I refused to cover him on my insurance ( via A Plan).
Problems is he has no NCB, been driving only 2 years and had one claim last October.
Does anyone know of an insurer you have used in similar circumstances? I need 3 weeks cover to tour France and need him as a co driver.
Thanks

I found the easiest way to get kids on the insurance to drive any of our cars was through a multicar deal.
Have a look at Adrian Flux. New Defender L663 110 SE (known as Noddy!)
Sold Volvo XC90 R-Design (known as Basil)
Sold - D4 HSE (Known as Gerty)
No longer the Old Buses original owner
231,000 miles and counting
05 S manual owned from March 2005
D4 Face lifted
Still original injectors and turbo
V8 Front brakes
BAS Remap, Allisport Intercooler and deCat
EGRs blanked
T-Max split charge
Hanibal Expeedition rack
Prospeed ladder
Duratrac tyres
IID BT
BAS FBH control

I just renewed today with A Plan as I thought my son would be allowed on the insurance for France. My insurance covers me for Europe and he was on for a week in May no problem. So I thought France would not be a problem. Yet he has driven transits in France for his company so obviously he's really peed off now as it will cost him £500 plus. So guess who is going to have to help............

Might be possible and cheaper if you make him a permanent named driver! It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

KGM (via A Plan) refused to cover him due to no experience driving abroad. However, an on line search showed KGM happy to insure him for £540 for 17 days. Had to take a cheaper deal with Tempcover at £475 which is still mental but there we are. Next year will be multi car.
Thanks for suggestions.
