Oil & filter changed every 5000 miles what about air filter?
I religiously change the oil and oil filter every 5000 miles however wondering what others think on the frequency of changing the air filter. Every time 5000 seems excessive but interested to know other thoughts. Thanks.

I change my oil every 6000, including oil filter, air filter and pollen filter. Might be overkill, but at least I know it was done!Richard

Don’t waste your money, I did that for my D3 and them little bearing shells still rotated and the engine went bada-bing bada-boom. I’m convinced these engines like being badly treated, treat ‘em mean = keep ‘em keen.
Just my opinion, there are other opinions out there. Allegedly.

I change every ~10k km (= 6.214 k miles) oil, oil filter, engine air, cabin air. The engine air filter tends to look fairly ok and I’ve been thinking of maybe not changing it every time. But since it costs 12.45 eur… why not. The cabin filter tends to be very dark.
The total cost is around 100 eur for 8 liters of oil, the filters and a new oil pan drain plug.

Thanks for the comments, mixed opinions and very interesting. Where I Live in the country side its very dusty and dry so I agree with the pollen filter, will add to the list. On another note, if you see this, I forgot to order the usual Mahle oil filter today so may have to go local. Any body recommend an alternative that's good.

I use Mann filters on my V8, I imagine they have them for the TDV6, too.

I put an air filter in once a year, even though the service schedule says every 2.

Hi,
the Air and Pollen filter are so easy to get to,
have a look at 6 months
have a look at 12 months
keep having a look until you think they want changing
every ones use is different so rather than going by a set time or miles decide on what you see, you might be surprised how long to leave them OR how quick you might need to.

I’m in Canada so each year I stock up on air filters, cabin filters and wiper blades, oil filters, oil pan drain O rings. Usual source is Rockauto out of the US. After really dusty runs I swap out the air and cabin filter
My personal thoughts are that there is a balance to be had in changing filters. Slightly dirty filters will filter more efficiently than a brand new clean filter. However you don't want to leave them in long enough that the differential pressure starts pulling trapped particles through the filter media.
Air filters every service is in my opinion overkill. And I generally do my engine oil anywhere from the factory 12,000km interval to 15,000km. If I'm travelling and away from home then I'm happy to push out the engine oil to 20,000km (this is on the back of engine oil sampling so I know the oil is fine even at those km's)
