| Torque converter replacement |
|
Going to be doing a body off refurbishment in the next couple of weeks. One of the jobs is to replace the torque converter but I am finding wildly varying prices. I know Bristol transmissions are respected by some on here but they are showing none available. Advanced Factors don't seem to do them and reconditioned are available on evilbay for about £360 on exchange. Does anyone have any experience of these or pointers to the best place to buy one. 55 Plate Disco 3 HSE. EGR blanked, Decat exhaust, AMK Compressor, bought 20 Dec 13. Watch this space for future upgrades. - Disco 4 front cup holders, D4 Bluetooth, Brembo 4 pot front V8 rear brakes, front diff breather mod, BAS FBH controller, fixed towbar, D4 heated washer jets
Silicone intercooler hoses, RS 500 Intercooler, decat exhaust, remap
IID tool used to enable 3 flash indicators, clock on dash, reverse follow me home lights, snotm, AMK compressor update and still learning

Most gearbox places would recon and not fit new unless the main body was damaged.
Has Bristol said they won't recon it?

BT no longer supply them, last time I asked
That said, the last few I ordered, they removed our trade discount

Thanks for the replies. Will look at some local gearbox specialist for reconditioning as at least I have some comeback down the line if there are issues. Know what you mean, friend of a friend has a L320 that it juddering and asked my opinion on the ebay TCs. They will change it themselves if they go ahead so I'll report back if they use an ebay one.
