[For Sale] FOR SALE - Sankey based on/off road camping trailer.
Trailer
FOR SALE - Sankey based on/off road camping trailer.
We built this trailer to allow us to free up seats in the disco for mine and Clive’s lads to come with us on our planned Morocco trip which was scheduled at the beginning of lockdown…
Now two years on from then and the lads are older (18) and mostly have other things they want to do than take a trip with us, so it’s now available to buy.
This trailer has been professionally extended and then built up from scratch to be as self contained as possible wherever you are.
The panels are built from GRP truck body panels and aluminium extrusions.
Main features of the trailer as it stands.
The trailer sits on Discovery 3 17” wheels with two spares at the front of the trailer. If you have different wheel requirements, you can change the hub adapters to fit other 4x4 brands if you wish. 18” and 19” wheels will also fit if you want to match them all (we previously had 18” compomotives on to match the car)
It has the heavy duty style NATO tow hitch and we have the matching hitch setup to connect to the LR fixed towhitch or I’ve seen other Sankey trailers that have been converted to a standard ball hitch but this isn’t something we’ve done.
70litre built in water tank
Sureflow water pump and expansion system (to help balance the water pressure). System redundancy in case of no power via a drain point below the water tank for drainage or emergency access.
Supplying hot and cold water system to the in built stainless steel sink as well as supplying the shower connection at the back of the trailer
Kitchen side of the trailer has everything you’d need to hand as well as external water fill point and gas/BBQ connection.
Hot/cold water to the sink
Next to the 2 burner stove and worktop food/gin preparation area
Also in the kitchen is a built in Microwave and 240v connections as well as 12volt socket and USB charging ports
The kitchen door opens up above you on gas struts to provide some weather protection
Above the worktop area are two full length shelves with storage boxes for all of the handy items or food/kitchen items you may need.
Next to the kitchen area is the included national Luna 90L twin fridge/freezer. Ample space for food/drink and ice for the gin of course!
This is on a slide out for easier access.
There is space for an additional fridge on the slide out if you wish. We have previously fitted ARB 47Litre fridge or 45Litre Engel so mounting points are already there.
The slide out fridge also sits above the 3x 95Ah AGM leisure batteries which also supplies the 2500w inverter for off grid power.
Kitchen and fridge area also of course has LED light strips above.
At the back of the trailer are 2x Jerry cans mounted. The rear opening panel holds the additional Table and the shower point.
Also at the back is the 240v hookup connection as well as a magnetic 12v connection which can be used for many things including roof tent power connection for more LEDs or 12v USB charging.
Around the other side of the trailer is access to the “electrical cupboard”.
This stores the previously mentioned batteries and inverter.
It also stores the 240v Ctek 25amp battery charger and the Ctek DC-DC charger for car to trailer charging. The DC-DC charger also has solar power input connection ready for your choice of solar panel. (Solar panel not provided)
Here you’ll also find the main fuse board and relays as well as the 240v circuit breaker supply. The 240v sockets auto switch from mains hook up to inverter as appropriate.
The next two large cupboards on that side are purposely left without shelves to provide flexibility on loading (we used wolf boxes/really useful boxes and wine boxes 😉) kit bags also work well. You can store your chairs and whatever else you want in here also.
Stored in the centre cupboard is the additional awning sides and tent extension.
Access to the underslung water tank is also in here if ever needed.
These cupboards also have LED light strips of course.
All doors are lockable and keyed alike.
At the front of the trailer are the two spare wheels mounted and the Propane gas bottle as well as the Anderson connection for direct DC-DC charging from the car.
Trailer lights wired up for 13pin wiring but also have a 7pin adapter included.
Mounted on top of the trailer is the Howling Moon 2.4m roof tent which provides a huge amount of sleeping space for 4 along with the Annex extension (included) which could also sleep more if you wanted.
The Howling Moon is one of the best roof tents available and not many of them come up for sale, especially not the 2.4m! This one is not even a year old and is in the great condition you would expect it to be!
For additional sun or rain coverage, the 6 arm 2.5m 270degree awning covers the kitchen and around the back to meet up with the back of the trailer.
Included with it are all of the side panels for the awning. This makes a great covered area no matter what the weather.
Again, this is the same age and condition as the roof tent.
As some of you may have seen, we took this to the LandRover Party and then onto routes in the Pyrenees last year and it performed superbly but is just surplus to our current requirements.
As you’d expect, we’ve used quality items and (much to our wives annoyance) spent far too much time building it! We wanted it to last so someone will get a great trailer setup all ready to go tomorrow.
Some of the pictures are from when we had two roof tents and a foxwing but we’ve since upgraded to the above mentioned awning and rooftent. 👍🏻
Looking for £12,500 ovno for the complete setup or £8,000 without the Roof tent and awning.
Contact myself or Clive Symons CDS for further details or to arrange a viewing. The trailer is currently stored in Oldham area.
