Disco 4 2016 won’t start
Stopped in traffic on the M25 today and the start stop kicked in but wouldn’t start again. Code brown moment as the traffic clears and we are stuck in the outer live lane.
Could not get the car started and had to pull the red level to get the gearbox in neutral, so we could get to the side with a push.
Ignition comes on but won’t even turnover or click. eml
On red and orange triangle, no other messages
Any ideas or suggestions would be much appreciated.

From the manual ...
1. Car configuration file incorrect for stop/start system
2. Harness failure - Wiring integrity starter motor circuit
3. Tandem solenoid starter motor failure
4. Tandem solenoid starter motor pinion not operating

Have you had any work done recently? It sounds like a harness has detached or possibly failed (water ingress around the battery area appears to be becoming common).012MY RRS 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography (Current)

Doesn't sound good.
Definitely a new underwear situation.
What and where is this red level you speak of for getting her in neutral?
Hope you get it sorted soon.D4 HSE Lux MY16 Club Waitomo

Think he means the red canvas pull tab under the cup holders - pull it to put the gear box in neutral and disable the peg so it can be towed or winched2011 D4 XS 305 MY12 - gone but not forgotten

Thanks all, so far I think it’s the earth strap between the engine and chassis. Hopefully get some time to look over the weekend.

So here is the offending item, clean break at the end.

Whereabouts is this earth strap? Should really check to see if mine is going to snap!

I've just broken down at work with the exact same faults on my GAP tool. Waiting for RAC for a piggy back home as I doubt it's a roadside fix. Some mistakes are to good to only make once.

It is roadside fixable just run an earth wire from the negative terminal to any point on the engine you can attach it too . Just reminded me to do something more permanent as got caught out at tescos about two months ago.
Luckily I had multimeter etc with me at the time.

All sorted for now. While waiting for the RAC I read a few more posts and used a jump lead to get the car started which it did first time. I turned off stop start and drove around for a few mins to check everything was ok. RAC turned up as I was closing the boot. Does anyone have the part number for the lead please. Its a 2016 D4 HSE. I will order one tomorrowSome mistakes are to good to only make once.

Ours is a late 2014, feel it a good idea to check this. Is it relatively easy to eyeball it to see what state it is in ?D4 HSE Lux. my 2015 . Mariana Black
